control system programming

For programming purposes a source is anything that creats a page of programming.

Examples of sources
• Receiver (Tuner, Internet Radio, etc.)
• BluRay player
• Smart TV
• AppleTV
• Roku
• Sonos
• Security System (Ademco or DSC)
• Lighting Control / Shade Control
• Climate Control

Sources NOT to count
• Game systems
• Ariport Express
• Aux in

Note: Sources that aren't part of the programming quote I still need to know about before I start programming.

Zones are any separately controlled area, for example the sources available to the living room usually differ from the ones in the kitchen.

Note: If you are using the RTI AD series of distribution amps, all connected zones are considered one zone. So even if you have 8 zones connected to the AD-8x for programming proposes that is only counted as one zone.

Controls are anything that needs to be programmed to control the system, remotes, phones, tablets, computers, and in-wall touch screens. You don't need to count every control just the type of control, so if there are 3 iPad's in the system but they all have the same program they are counted as one control. However if you have 3 T2x's and each is controlling a different set of equipment they would be counted as 3 controls.
